A cockroach trap (also known as “cockroach bait” and “roach bait”) is a great way to get rid of cockroaches when you have a small to moderate infestation problem. There are both do-it-yourself methods and professional methods for you to take advantage of.

There are many DIY methods that you can use to get rid of your cockroach infestation. However, the majority of these methods can take a lot of time and don’t always bring the best results. You simply need to use something that will attract the cockroaches, and then you need to have an object to trap them. A piece of fruit and a wine glass, jar, or even bottle works great.

If you feel that the DIY methods might not work so well or you simply don’t have the time, you can always purchase a professional cockroach trap that will do the job. There are three professional solutions that you might want to look into:

  1. Hydramethylnon – this is an active ingredient that you’ll find in many roach bait products. It’s an insecticide and can lead to the death of cockroaches in a matter of 2-4 days. This can be very effective because it’s a slow-acting solution, and so it gives the cockroaches the time to unknowingly share it with the rest of the colony.
  2. Fipronil – another active ingredient that you’ll find in many products. This particular ingredient disrupts the central nervous system and can lead to death in just 6-24 hours.
  3. Boric acid – boric acid is a form of bait that you can purchase as a dust, it works as a desiccant and a toxic. The boric acid is first mixed into a paste and then set with roach attractants.
